Why Consider Serving in the 10/40 Window, Part 3

1040 WindowMatthew 28:19-20, Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Acts 1:8,   But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

As I mentioned in part one of this series, for all of us, life is filled with choices!

ChoicesWe choose who we will marry. We choose where we will live. We choose where we will go to school. We choose what vocation to pursue. And, for those of us who are in the ministry, we choose where we will serve.

Yes, we choose!

In our first post on this topic, we saw that one reason that we should seriously consider serving in the 10/40 Window is because OUR LORD GAVE US THE GREAT COMMISSION! And, of course, this Commission is still binding upon us today, to “GO” into all the world, and the 10/40 Window is a part of that world!

In our second post, we saw that another really good reason for considering serving in the 10/40 Window is because THE NEED IS SO GREAT!

Just a reminder, these thoughts are not necessarily in order of importance. To be honest with you, they are all important!

There’s another really good reason that all of God’s people should seriously consider serving in the 10/40 Window. This is not only a good reason, but a sobering reminder.

We should consider serving in the 10/40 Window because there is a literal hell that lost men and women go to if they do not turn to, and trust Jesus Christ as their only hope for salvation!

If there is a literal place called hell, a place that men and women are separated from God and suffering for all eternity, and understanding that the vast majority of the people in the 10/40 Window will never hear the Good News, and in many cases, never hear the name of Jesus, this should in and of itself should compel us to “GO!”

HellRevelation 20:11-15, And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12  And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13  And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14  And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15  And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

IS THERE A HELL?

How we answer this question SHOULD CHANGE EVERYTHING. Not only for the lost man, but for the saved man also. And, for those of us serving God full-time!

It should change how we LIVE. How and who we LOVE. How and who we SERVE. What we GIVE. What we are willing to SACRIFICE.

CHOICES

Where we are willing to GO. Where we are willing to LIVE!!!!

Why Consider Serving in the 10/40 Window?, Part 2

Over the next few days or so, I would like to consider WHY WE SHOULD CONSIDER SERVING IN THE 10/40 WINDOW!

Yesterday, I said one reason that we should CONSIDER SERVING IN THE 10/40 WINDOW is simply because our Lord Jesus has given us the Great Commission. A Commission to GO INTO ALL THE WORLD and proclaim the Good News of Jesus love and forgiveness, and that world includes the 10/40 Window. There’s definitely a second reason we should all CONSIDER SERVING IN THE 10/40 WINDOW.

THE NEED FOR THE GOSPEL IS GREATEST IN THE 10/40 WINDOW!

UPG 1Approximately 4.89 billion individuals residing in approximately 8,181 distinct people groups are in the revised 10/40 Window. 5,587 (68.3%) of these people groups are considered unreached and have a population of 3.02 billion. This means approximately 62% of the individuals in the 10/40 Window live in an unreached people group.

The 10/40 Window is home to some of the largest unreached people groups in the world such as the Shaikh, Yadava, Turks, Moroccan Arabs, Pashtun, Jat and Burmese. There are hundreds of millions of people in our world who will live their entire lives having never met a Christian, never hearing the Gospel, and never hearing the name of Jesus even once prior to their death and nearly these live in the 10/40 Window.

UPG -2An estimated 3.02 billion individuals live in approximately 5,587 unreached people groups in the 10/40 Window. The 10/40 Window also contains the largest unreached peoples over one million in population.  In addition, the 10/40 Window contains the overwhelming majority of the world’s least evangelized megacities — that is those with a population of more than one million. The top 50 least evangelized megacities are all in the 10/40 Window. That fact alone underscores the need for prioritizing 10/40 Window Great Commission efforts!

Take these numbers above, along with the fact that we are told that 95 percent of all full-time Christian workers are serving only 5 percent of the people, and 5 percent of all full-time Christian workers are trying desperately to serve the other 95 percent of the people in the world and we see the NEED IS GREAT!

UPG -3It would seem to make sense that those of us who are committed to Christ, the cause of Christ, and the Great Commission, should be willing to go where the need is greatest, unless we were specifically told otherwise.

Romans 15:20-21,  Yea, so have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another man’s foundation: 21  But as it is written, To whom he was not spoken of, they shall see: and they that have not heard shall understand.

Over the next few days, I would like to consider why some of us, who have chosen to follow Christ and serve Him full-time, should prayerfully consider serving in the part of the world known as the 10/40 Window. There are many different reasons we can consider when dealing with this topic. Yet, we will only consider a few of the most notable. And, they will not necessarily be in order of importance.

Why Consider Serving in the 10/40 Window?

As God’s people, we have been given what is known as the Great Commission, to go into all of the world to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ, and the 10/40 Window is part of that world in which we have been called!

Nothing real complicated about that is there? Just trying to keep it simple!

Just prior to Jesus leaving earth and returning to sit at the Right Hand of the Father, He left His disciples with the Great Commission, and that Commission still stands for us today!

Luke 24:47-49, And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48  And ye are witnesses of these things. 49  And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

OmissionSadly, and to our shame, when talking about the 10/40 Window, the Great Commission has become the Great Omission. It is the great unfinished task of our day, and for some reason, few of us seem to be overly concerned about it!
